The truth is, the bible is about gift giving. The Father gives the Son, and the Son in turn gives the Spirit, and the Spirit in turn gives spiritual gifts. It’s all about free gifts from a Good Gift Giver!
But some would have you believe that the bible is really about your gifts, that you’ve earned, by your efforts, that you need to give to God. Orrr.. that the gifts you received freely, you have to fearfully keep and maintain by your works and behavior because God will take them back.
I am not sure if you know this, but Grace is synonymous with Free Gift. You see the Grace of God, is “undeserved, and unearned,” which is the opposite of a reward. Rewards are earned, and gifts are unearned. In this concept lies the confusion among most bible teachers.
